Annual Blanket Drive for the Homeless

Entering 12th year and strong

We have been very lucky this year that the coldness of winter has not been as bad as previous years.  However, it is only a matter of time that this winter will begin to hit hard and have shelters across the state reaching their capacity as the nights are only going to get colder.  As you step outside and have that cold air hitting your face and instantly chilling your entire body please realize that we are lucky that it is only for a few moments until you get into your car or home ... sadly we have people on our streets without the luxury of a few moments and instead the reality of being out in the cold all day and night in very cold temperatures. This is your time to help make a difference...

Ways you could help:

DONATE ITEMS:

This is a great opportunity to clean out your closet of old blankets, jackets, sweaters, etc. and donate them for this cause.

Items to be collected:

- Blankets

-Coat/Jackets

-Socks

-Gloves

-Hats

-Scarfs

-Other warm items

These items will be for men, women and children of all ages. Items could be new or used.  Used items must be washed/clean.

START YOUR

OWN SUB-DRIVE:

As simple as putting up a box by the front reception desk of your organization asking for these items will make a difference.  Leadership will embrace this as it will not only show good character but help improve morale by getting employees involved and making a difference in the community.

It could also be a Family Drive just getting your family together and pushing to make a difference by collecting these items to donate at the next family function.Co

Create your own flyer or download the this pre-made flyer to place on your collection box:

Please contact me if you need addiitonal help in organizing for at your donation site.

DONATE FUNDS:

Noticed after cleaning out your closet that you dont have any more items to donate. I will also be collecting funds for purchasing Emergency Space Blankets which are only $4.99 and are special for sub-zero temperatures.  I either recommend you purchase them through the link shown above and we could get together for you to donate them or simply donate funds so that I could purchase them on your behalf.

Only $5 Will Keep a Person Warm Tonight and

Possibly Save a Life!

d

Once you have collected your items you would like to donate please contact me so we could meet up and I could collect these items from you.  If you collected many items at your own donation site I will be happy to come by and collect them directly. I will then sort the items by women, men and children and deliver them to various shelters. Remember ... Even One Blanket Could Make a Difference this Winter!

How this drive got started:

Homeless are little warmer, safer tonight thanks to Felipe-Morales

By Catherine Gray Beuten

(Jan. 8, 2010) It was December of 2008 and the elderly man sitting on a bench by the creek off Larimer and Speer Boulevard was freezing. “He couldn’t even speak,” recalls Danny Felipe-Morales. “I bought him a coffee and sandwich from Starbucks and convinced him to let me take him to the Denver Rescue Mission.” (Read More)
